In Nowhere Buddy you play as a scientist lost in the vast dimensions of realities. Find your path in this maze made of portals.

POST MORTEM:
Why and how did you find your mechanic idea?
Portals were the easiest way to signify something random. The idea came from watching The Witcher 3 playthrough in which Geralt always hates portals
What we found fun in the game concept:
The chaotic randomness of taking portals which leads everywhere and nowhere and disturbing the gameplay mechanics and visuals.
What caused problems during the jam, what we added because of the feedback, remaining problems and potential upgrades.
Problem during the jam:
- We didn't know much about Construct3 and pixel art so we had to learn to use it while developing.
Problems:
- Stages are too short
- Stages were empty : no enemies, character is a cube, no music or sound effects.
- Not enough challenges.
- Not displaying controls.
- No main menu.
- Camera is too close to the player.
- No explanation of what to do and how.
Upgrades:
- Added a visual for the character.
- Added portals, enemies, timer and secrets.
- Added music and sound effects.
- Added controls display.
- Added main menu.
- Added "How To Play" menu.
- Added "Credits" Menu.
- Added animations.
- Camera fixed.
- Deadzones with different effects.
- Intro text.
- New UI and Backround.
- Better visibility.
- Level design improvement.
- New visual effects.
- Player character now faces the right direction while moving.
Remaining problems:
- Still a short game
- Environment Hitboxes
- Sound Mixing
Improvements area:
- More ideas when altering the gameplay mechanics when entering a portal.
- Hitboxes and level design.
- Reworking the stages to have more challenging and rewarding puzzles.
- Adding more movement mechanics (crouching, wall-jumping, slides).
- Adding more stages per area (Desert 1-4, Mountain 1-4 per example).
- Adding narrative design.
